Public Works is notifying residents and businesses that the precautionary boil water notice issued following the recent water main breaks has now been lifted for all affected areas.

The Town of Brattleboro has issued a precautionary boil water notice for residents listed below following a water main break on the primary water lines on Green Street and Pine Street.

The Brattleboro Department of Public Works is responding to a water main break near the intersection of High and Green streets as well as Fuller Drive.

No Interstate 91, Exit 3 closures will be necessary for the remainder of the project.

Fire Chief Symonds has received military orders requiring him to take an approximately one-year leave of absence starting in October 2026.

Maple Street will be closed between the I-91 overpass and the intersection of Maple Street and Austine Drive on Aug. 24 and Aug. 25.

Beginning August 17, the library’s Main Street entrance will close and is expected to remain closed through the fall and all designated library parking will be relocated to the Municipal Center parking lot.

The project seeks to address chronic road wash outs that create financial stress to the town, impair the water quality of the Crosby Brook, and create localized flooding.

The town seeks to build a replacement for Dettman Drive Bridge that has a span length and elevation necessary to convey a 100 year flood.

August State Primary elections will be held on August 11, 2026. There are three major ways to vote in these elections.

The nonprofit Interaction worked with The Creative Discourse Group to create a proposal to bring the community together to develop an updated safety plan that takes into account a range of community perspectives and has broad support.

During construction, the eastbound (downhill) lane of Church Street will be closed to all through traffic. 

This phase includes the closure of the sidewalk in front of the library’s Main Street entrance, as well as the accessible ramp connecting the Municipal Center parking lot to the library’s rear entrance. 

The Town of Brattleboro has named SerahRose Bissell as its new Finance Director. Bissell brings extensive experience in financial management, accounting, and organizational operations.
