Akley Road Closure for Box Culvert Replacement

The Brattleboro Department of Public Works would like to inform the public that a contractor hired by the Town will begin replacing the existing double culvert on Akley Road starting Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 7 a.m.

The project is located approximately 2,000 feet east of the intersection of Akley Road and Goodenough Road, where the existing double culvert crossing will be removed and replaced with a new box culvert.

The road is expected to remain closed at the project location for the remainder of September while construction is completed.

Local Access

Residents and property owners will need to access Akley Road from the appropriate side of the closure:

  • House numbers 210 and lower: Access from Hinesburg Road
  • House numbers 287 and higher: Access from Bonnyvale Road

Motorists should plan accordingly and use alternate routes for the duration of the project. The Town will provide updates if the construction schedule or road closure changes.

The Town has coordinated closely with emergency services to ensure there is no disruption in coverage. Police, fire, and EMS have made the necessary adjustments to maintain the same level of service for residents in the affected area.

The Town of Brattleboro thanks residents for their patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure project moves forward.
