South Street Closure on Oct. 21
The Brattleboro Department of Public Works would like to notify residents that South Street, in the area of 78 South Street (formerly the Dalem Chalet), will be closed to all traffic on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The closure is necessary to allow a private contractor to install new private utility lines associated with the redevelopment of the property.
Residents living beyond the road closure will need to access their properties through Guilford, using either Creamery Road or Tater Lane during these hours.
To ensure emergency services remain available, emergency response apparatus will be staged beyond the road closure to provide timely response to any emergencies that may occur.
On Thursday, October 22, 2026, motorists should expect alternating one-lane traffic restrictions in the same area while paving operations are completed.
Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling through the construction area.
