Pay Bills Online
Note: When entering the account number for utility bills, omit the first hyphen. Example: 12345678-000

Credit and debit card payments can be made online. There is a fee for this service. We cannot accept credit/debit card payments at the office counter or by telephone.
Below are other methods of payment.
Paying in Person at the Treasurer’s Office
Payment by check or cash must be made by 5 p.m. on the due date. Third party checks will not be accepted. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office is open through the lunch hour. Payments slipped in the mail slot after hours on the due date will not be considered on time.
Paying using the Drop Box
Payments can also be made by dropping an envelope containing your check (no cash) into a locked “drop box” marked “Town Business” in the parking lot behind the Municipal Center. Payment must in the drop box by 5 p.m. on the due date.
Paying by Mail
An official U.S. Post Office postmark on the envelope on or before the due date will be considered on time. If the envelope is received after the due date without a postmark or the postmark is illegible, the payment will be considered late.
When Paying by Check
- Postdated checks are not accepted.
- Third party checks are not accepted.
- Unsigned checks will be returned to the party issuing the check.
- Per the banking institutions, we must accept the written amount on the check. Please verify the written and numeric amount are the same.
- Please make sure there is contact information on your check.
Credit/Debit Cards
Credit and debit card payments can be made online. There is a fee for this service. We cannot accept credit/debit card payments at the office counter or by telephone.
Direct Debit Program
The Town of Brattleboro offers the Direct Debit Program for tax and utility payments. Forms are available here. There is no fee for this service.
Online Bill Pay Check from your Bank Account
Online Bill Pay Checks must be received in the office by 5 p.m. on the due date. Checks dated for the due date but received after the due date will not be considered an on-time payment. Please check with your bank for payment schedule.
