Licensing

A business license is required for all businesses located in Brattleboro. If you have questions about the process, or to apply, see the links in the left sidebar. Or contact the Assessor's office at 802-251-8156.

It may also be necessary to have other permits or licenses. For business signs, home business, or a change of use for a particular building see the building and zoning section, or contact the Planning Services office. There are also specialty licenses for certain types of businesses, such as vendors, taxis and others. See the licenses and permits section for more information.

Businesses selling food must have a health certificate from the Vermont Department of Health, and those businesses selling alcohol or tobacco should contact the Brattleboro Town Clerk as the Department of Liquor Control licensing process has several steps.
