Business/Entertainment License
Brattleboro requires all businesses doing business in Town to file for a license. (See Chapter 11 of the Code of Ordinances.)
Step 1
New Business
If you are a new business in Town, please apply for a business license. First, create an account in the online portal. Once you have created an account, you can fill out the form and make a payment.
Your business license will be emailed to you. New businesses have 30 days to file for a license. The cost of a license for a new business is $50, which can be paid online. There will be an additional processing fee for online payments.
You may also pay by cash or check at the Assessor’s Office. If paying by physical check, please send to: Brattleboro Office of Assessment, 230 Main Street, Suite 101, Brattleboro, VT 05301. Once we receive your check, we will email or mail your renewed license to you.
Renew a Business License
Business licenses must be renewed each year by March 15. The cost of renewal is $50. You can renew a business license online. First, create an account in the online portal. Once you have created an account, you can apply for a license renewal and make a payment. There will be an additional processing fee for online payments.
You may also pay by cash or check at the Assessor’s Office. If paying by physical check, please send to: Brattleboro Office of Assessment, 230 Main Street, Suite 101, Brattleboro, VT 05301. Once we receive your check, we will email or mail your renewed license to you.
Late renewals will incur additional fees. After March 15, the fee for renewal increases to $75.

Please email the Assessor's Office to let us know you are no longer doing business in Brattleboro.
Step 2
License
The Assessor’s Office will mail or email your license, which must be prominently displayed at your place of business once we receive confirmation of the online form and payment.
