Putney Road has reopened to both north and southbound traffic following the closure that occurred during the afternoon hours of Dec. 31, 2025.

The Town of Brattleboro and the Board of Trustees announced the retirement of Brooks Memorial Library Director Starr LaTronica following a decade of transformative service to Brattleboro. 

Snow and ice will be cleared from select streets in Brattleboro on Dec. 30, starting at 11 p.m. Vehicles parked along the affected streets must be removed or they may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Vehicles parked in the downtown lots must be removed tonight or they may be towed at the owner’s expense.

The Town Manager's Office and Finance Department will have irregular hours during the last two weeks of the year. 

The building’s sprinkler system suppressed the fire. However, the sprinkler activation caused significant water damage to 17 additional apartments.

At this time, any price changes are not expected to take effect before March 1, 2026.

The Selectboard will hold a special meeting on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, in the Selectboard Meeting Room and on Zoom.

Rec & Parks is ringing in the holidays with special programs, including events happening during the winter school break and New Year's Eve.

The Parking Enforcement Office will be closed the week of Dec. 22, and will reopen at its new location at the ground level of the Transportation Center on Dec. 29.

The Town of Brattleboro has issued a precautionary Boil Water Notice for residents on Edward Heights and Lawton Drive following a water main break on the primary water line serving Edward Heights.

The Town of Brattleboro will submit a request to the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development to release the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

The Brattleboro Selectboard hereby provides notice to the community that the Selectboard intends to sign a warranty easement deed to the Friends of West River Trail, Inc.

The entire collection will be available and programs will continue as normal, but be advised there will be noise and painting during construction.

Parking is free in downtown Brattleboro on Dec. 6, 7, 13, 14, and 18-25.

The Selectboard will hold a public hearing on a proposed Interim Zoning Bylaw on Dec. 22, 2025, at 6:15 p.m. in the Selectboard Meeting Room.

Snow will be removed from the uncovered parking lots in Brattleboro’s downtown area starting around 12 a.m. on Dec. 5. Vehicles parked in the downtown lots must be removed or they may be towed at the owner’s expense.
