Update on Pay As You Throw Trash Bags
At the November 18, 2025, Selectboard meeting, the Board voted to increase the cost of the Town of Brattleboro Pay As You Throw (PAYT) trash bags. This action was taken to place the cost of solid waste collection and disposal directly on the users of the system, rather than distributing those costs across all taxpayers as had been done previously.
At the December 16, 2025, Selectboard meeting, the Board voted to reconsider the PAYT bag pricing. This topic is scheduled to be revisited at the January 6, 2026, Selectboard meeting.
At this time, any price changes are not expected to take effect before March 1, 2026.
