Trash, recycling and composting
Trash, recycling and composting WILL be affected by the holiday. Collections will be delayed by one day following Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Free Holiday Parking
Parking in Downtown Brattleboro is FREE on New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 2026.
The Parking Enforcement office has moved out of the Municipal Center to to the Transportation Center as of Monday, Dec. 29, 2025. The office is located on the ground level of the Transportation Center with an entryway facing Flat Street.
Brooks Memorial Library
Brooks Memorial Library will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31). The library will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
Municipal Center
The Town Clerk's Office is closed on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025.
The Finance Department will be closed from Dec. 31, 2025, to Jan. 2, 2026. The department will reopen on Jan. 5, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
New Year's Eve: The Municipal Center will be open for regular hours on Dec. 31, 2025 (New Year’s Eve). The Town’s Clerk’s Office, the Assessor’s Office and the Planning Department will be open until 5 p.m. The Town Manager’s office will be open until noon. The Finance and Human Resource offices will be closed all day on Dec. 31, 2025.

The Nelson Withington Skating Facility will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There will be additional public skating hours during the holiday season.
- Dec. 26, 29, 30, 31 & Jan. 2: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Dec. 31: 6 to 9 p.m.
Due to the Annual BHA Hockey Tournament, the skating facility schedule has been adjusted as follows:
- Jan. 2: No public skating from 7 to 9 p.m.; No open adult hockey from 9:15 to 10:15 p.m.
- Jan. 3: No stick time from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.; No public skating from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
- Jan. 4: No speed skating from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.; No public skating from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be public skating on Jan. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m.
