The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is providing regular updates about construction projects in Brattleboro. 

The Brattleboro Department of Public Works has published an interactive map to help the public track the progress of various projects happening in 2026. 

Sunset Lake Road will be closed to through traffic between 1320 and 1420 Sunset Lake Road from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. 

On Monday, Sept. 21, a contractor will be paving a section of Maple Street just east of the intersection with Austine Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Day work on Bridge 10B on U.S. Route 5 over Interstate 91 is scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 a.m.

The road is expected to remain closed at the project location starting Sept. 8 through the remainder of the month.

UPDATE: It was originally anticipated that this work would begin the day after Labor Day but that has been changed to later in September. 

Labor Day is next weekend and crews will be off the road from 6 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4 until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 in observance of the Holiday.

The Brattleboro Department of Public Works is responding to a water main break near the intersection of High and Green streets as well as Fuller Drive.

No Interstate 91, Exit 3 closures will be necessary for the remainder of the project.

Maple Street will be closed between the I-91 overpass and the intersection of Maple Street and Austine Drive on Aug. 24 and Aug. 25.

The latest round of updates from VTrans includes information for the week of August 9.

Construction activities will take place Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. No on-street parking will be permitted on the streets actively being worked on. 

Interstate 91 Exit 3 on- and off-ramps for northbound and southbound are scheduled to be closed August 5-7 from midnight through 5 a.m.

Overnight paving work is planned for this weekend.

During construction, the eastbound (downhill) lane of Church Street will be closed to all through traffic. 

Overnight work on U.S. Route 5 may occur next Friday, July 24 into Saturday morning, July 25.

Interstate 91 Exit 3 on- and off-ramps are scheduled to be closed from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. across several dates in July.

The Highway Division will be replacing failed drainage lines on Moreland Avenue on July 9 and on Oak Grove Avenue on July 10.

Crews will work overnight Friday, June 26 to Saturday, June 27 on U.S. Route 5 and Vermont Route 9.

There will be no overnight work on Friday, June 19, 2026.

The closure will be in effect from the intersection of Flat Street and Main Street to the entrance of the Latchis parking lot from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

Oak Grove Avenue will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for sewer line repair. Motorists should plan alternative routes. 

The work will take place in the nighttime from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Flat Street will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, April 29, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., between the intersection of Flat and Main and the entrance of the Latchis parking lot.

As a result, Guilford Street Extension will be fully closed to all traffic between house numbers #773 and #821 from 8:30 a.m. until no later than 1 p.m. The road may reopen earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule.

Construction is scheduled to resume on U.S. Route 5 from Brattleboro to Putney on Monday, April 6, 2026, during daytime hours.

Guilford Street will be completely closed to all traffic between house numbers #773 and #821 between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. 

DPW is responding to a water main break on Main Street between High Street and Grove Street.

Public Works will be reporting on road conditions using an online map and road signage. 

Motorists should expect lane restrictions, potential delays, and alternating one-way traffic in the work zone.

Central Street will be closed again between Washington Street and Highland Street on Jan. 28 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. 

On Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, Central Street will be closed between Washington Street and Highland Street while the Utilities Division makes sewer repairs.

Ames Hill Road will be closed in the area of 694 for several hours while Green Mountain Power crews replace a broken utility pole. 

South Main Street will be closed between Oak Grove Avenue and Pine Street on Jan. 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Putney Road has reopened to both north and southbound traffic following the closure that occurred during the afternoon hours of Dec. 31, 2025.

Williston Street will be closed on Nov. 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to complete repairs to a failed stormwater structure. 

Paving will happen on Greenleaf Street from Oct. 28 through Oct. 31, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
