Nelson Withington Skating Facility

The Skating Facility will open for the season on Saturday, October 25, 2025, and close for the season on Sunday, March 8, 2026. The schedule is subject to change during the Christmas and February school vacation weeks. For more information, call 802-257-2311 or 802-254-5808.
The Nelson Withington Skating Facility offers the public opportunities for ice skating during the winter months and periodic roller skating/rollerblading during the off-season. The facility is located in Living Memorial Park at 61 Guilford St, Brattleboro VT 05301.
Public Skating
Monday: 7 to 9 p.m. (Dollar Night)
Tuesday: 10:30 a.m. to noon (Adults Only)
Wednesday: 10:30 a.m. to noon (Adults Only)
Friday: 10:30 a.m. to noon, 7 to 9 p.m. (Adults Only)
Saturday: 1:30 to 4 p.m., 7 to 9 p.m. (Dollar Day)
Sunday: 1 to 4 p.m., 7 to 9 p.m.
All season passes must be purchased at the Recreation & Parks Department Main Office, located at 207 Main Street.

Skate Rentals
Skate Rentals are available at the rink for $3 per rental. A wide variety of sizes are available in both figure skates and hockey skates. Please call the Skating Rink at 802-257-2311 for more information. All skates are disinfected after each use.
50th Anniversay Celebration!
Rec & Parks will be celebrating the the 50th anniversary of the Nelson Withington Skating Facility on Sunday, Nov. 2! NECCA will be visiting the rink from 1 to 4 p.m. for a special event. Join the vibrant clown community from NECCA and Anima Mundi arts in a silly open skate. Admission to the rink is free during this event. Free skate rentals for anyone who shows up in a clown costume! This event is hosted by Nettie Lane and Annabelle.
Rent the Rink
Book a party during public skating hours. A session costs $120. Price includes admission for 10 children, 10 skate rentals, birthday cake, and a private room to hold the party.
Skating FUNdamentals
Rec & Parks is hosting two sessions of Ice Skating “FUN”damentals this upcoming skating season. Stacey Chickering, Suzanne McCaughtry, and Megan Pratt will be teaching the skating lessons. Skate rentals are included in the program fee! This price includes lessons and practice time. Please make sure vour skater wears hat, gloves, and warm clothing daily. Helmets are encouraged for beginners. We ask that parents please remain at the ice rink during lessons.
Session 1: Oct. 28 - Dec. 16
Session 2: Jan. 6 - March 3
Time: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. (Tuesdays ONLY)

Ages: 5 years old and older
Fees: Residents $126; non-Brattleboro resident $141
Private & Semi-Private Lessons
Figure skating lessons are available from 4 to 4:30 p.m. (additional costs apply) on Tuesdays before the “Fun”damentals class. Skaters are welcome to register for this without being enrolled in the “Fun”damentals program. This is an opportunity to brush up on skills and enjoy skating again. We welcome all skaters who are new or have skated before. For more information, please contact one of the coaches: Megan Pratt, Stacy Chickering, or Suzy McCaughtry.
Stick Time
Happening Oct. 25, 2025 through March 7, 2026. Stick time is open to all ages and abilities, and you do not need to be participating in a local hockey league to participate. Helmets and gloves are required. Stick time will be supervised, and stick times are not included in season passes. Stick Time is available three times a week:
Monday: 9:15 to 10:15 p.m. (adults only)
Wednesday: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday: 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.
The fees are per visit. Brattleboro students are $4, Brattleboro adults are $5, non-Brattleboro students $5, non-Brattleboro adults are $6.
Open Adult Hockey
Happening Oct. 29, 2025 through March 6, 2026, on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:15 to 10:15 p.m. Pick-up hockey is open to adults (18+) and out of high school. Participants must wear full hockey equipment. No equipment is provided. The fee is per visit.

Speed Skating
Happening Nov. 16, 2025 through March 8, 2026, on Sundays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. For those ages 7 and up. Open Speed Skating has no instructor. Participants must bring their own skates. The fee for Open Speed Skating is per visit.

- $5 non-resident student, $6 non-resident adult.
