Paving Project Updates for Sept. 22-27

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is providing weekly updates about the paving project in Brattleboro. The latest update provides information that was published on Sept. 19, 2025. Sign up for alerts here, or learn more about this project.

Parking Impacts

Street side parking will be unavailable and strictly enforced on all project routes. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Saturday morning, please pay attention to nightly message boards indicating parking restrictions. The contractor and Brattleboro DPW are working together to move these boards for locations of work each evening. Traffic Impacts

Brattleboro NH PC 25(6)

Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place Monday night through Saturday morning from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Work will continue on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street), U.S. Route 5 (Main Street), Vermont Route 30 (Linden Street), and briefly on Vermont Route 142 (Vernon Street). Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through multiple work zones. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces. All motorists should be aware of raised utility structures.

Parking restrictions will be enforced during working hours. Pedestrians should watch for sidewalk detours.

 

Brattleboro-Putney STP PS 25(11)

Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place Monday night through Saturday morning from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on U.S. 5 (Putney Road) from the intersection with Vermont Avenue to the approximate intersection with Noah's Lane. Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through the work zones. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.

 

Construction Activities

Crews continue to measure decibel levels with noise monitoring equipment throughout the work area.

 

Brattleboro NH PC 25(6)

Linden Street (VT 30) - Sidewalk work and paving should be finished by the end of next week.

Vernon Street (VT 142) - Shoulder work is scheduled. Permanent pavement markings remain to be done.

Canal Street (U.S. 5) - No major work is scheduled through this corridor for next week.

Western Avenue and High Street (VT 9) - The sidewalk crew will continue to make progress on this corridor.

Main Street (U.S. 5) - Paving should finish up here next week.

 

Brattleboro-Putney STP PS 25(11)

The contractor is going to proceed with milling operations on part of the next phase of the project. Milling will begin on Putney Road (U.S. 5) near the intersection with Vermont Avenue and progress north over the course of the week to approximately the intersection with Noah's Lane. If milling is completed in this area, the contractor will move on to paving the first lift of pavement through here.
