The Vermont Agency of Transportation has scheduled multiple paving projects to take place this construction season and into 2026 throughout Brattleboro and on U.S. Route 5 from Brattleboro to Putney. The majority of the work on all parts of the projects has been scheduled to occur during typical nighttime hours as an effort to minimize the impacts to traffic. Over the course of construction, email updates will be provided weekly on construction activities and traffic impacts. If you would like to be included on the distribution list for project communications, please fill out this form or use the link below.

Further information about the location of the projects and work to be performed is included here:

The Brattleboro PC25(5) and Brattleboro PC25(6) paving projects will cover the extent of all Class 1 Town Highways typically noted by a sign stating, “State Highway Ends” and “State Highway Begins”.

U.S. 5: The project begins at the intersection with Generous Street and extends to the Vermont Avenue intersection.

VT 9: The project begins at the Edward Heights intersection and extends to the intersection with U.S. 5 at the traffic signal.

VT 30: The project begins at the U.S. 5 and VT 30 interchange and follows VT 30 to approximately the intersection with Cedar Street.

VT 142: The project begins at the limit sign just south of the railroad tracks near Riverside Drive and follows VT 142 to the intersection with U.S. 5 at the traffic signal.

Work on these projects includes coarse milling (grinding off the top layers of pavement) to a depth of 2 inches and paving a ½ inch leveling course and then a 1 ½ inch top course of pavement. ADA evaluation of sidewalk and pedestrian crossings, sign replacement, and drainage work are also planned as a part of these projects.
