Parking Impacts
Street side parking will be unavailable and strictly enforced on Canal Street, Western Avenue, and High Street especially. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Saturday morning, intermittent no parking zones may pop up on Main Street and Linden Street as well. Please pay attention to nightly message boards indicating parking restrictions. The contractor and Brattleboro DPW are working together to move these boards for locations of work each evening. To see alternative lots with rates and hours, please go to https://brattleboro.gov/parking.
Traffic Impacts
Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place Sunday night through Saturday morning from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Work will continue on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street), U.S. Route 5 (Canal Street and Main Street), Vermont Route 30 (Linden Street) and Vermont Route 142 (Vernon Street). Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through multiple work zones. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces. All motorists should be aware of raised utility structures and wet paint.
Parking restrictions will be enforced during working hours. Pedestrians should watch for sidewalk detours.
Construction Activities
Linden Street (VT 30) — On Sunday night, a shift has been added for crews to install guardrail, curb, and to work on structures. For the rest of the week, crews will continue work on utility structure adjustments and sidewalk ramp removals.
Vernon Street (VT 142) — Roadway widening is scheduled to finish up on this stretch of road and pavement will be placed on the newly widened sections. Once this is complete, the crews will pave the initial leveling layer across both the milled surface and newly widened sections.
Canal Street (U.S. 5) — Permanent pavement marking applications will continue next week. Motorists should be vigilant throughout the corridor and follow flagger instructions as well as avoid any traffic control devices as they may be guarding wet paint on the road.
Western Avenue and High Street (VT 9) — The sidewalk crew and utility structure crew work will continue to make progress on this corridor.
Main Street (U.S. 5) — The utility structure crew will continue to complete work in this corridor.
Crews continue to measure decibel levels with noise monitoring equipment.
