Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place Tuesday night through Saturday morning from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Work will continue on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street), U.S. Route 5 (Canal Street and Main Street), Vermont Route 30 (Linden Street) and begin on Vermont Route 142 (Vernon Street). Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through multiple work zones. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces. All motorists should be aware of raised utility structures and wet paint.
Parking restrictions will be enforced during working hours. Pedestrians should watch for sidewalk detours.
Parking Impacts
Street side parking will be unavailable and strictly enforced on Canal Street, Western Avenue, and High Street especially. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday night through Saturday morning, intermittent no parking zones may pop up on Main Street and Linden Street as well. Please pay attention to nightly message boards indicating parking restrictions. The contractor and Brattleboro DPW are working together to move these boards for locations of work each evening. Construction Activities
Canal Street (U.S. 5) — Permanent pavement marking applications will continue next week on Tuesday night. Motorists should be vigilant throughout the corridor and follow flagger instructions as well as avoid any traffic control devices as they may be guarding wet paint on the road.
Western Avenue and High Street (VT 9) — The sidewalk crew and utility structure crew work will continue to make progress on this corridor.
Linden Street (VT 30) and Main Street (U.S. 5) — The structure crew and the town structure crew should be finishing up on these roads.
Vernon Street (VT 142) — Milling is scheduled to begin on Tuesday night. Once the project limits have been milled, the contractor will begin work on widening the roadway.
Crews continue to measure decibel levels with noise monitoring equipment.
