Solid Waste Program Project
Background
The Town of Brattleboro has maintained a municipal contract with Casella (formerly TTT Trucking) for waste collection and disposal since 2009. The contract, which covers the collection of trash, recyclables, and organics from residential properties, expires on June 30, 2024.
In February 2024, the Selectboard initiated a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process to seek interested parties for future solid waste services. The RFQ was sent to ten firms and advertised publicly. Casella responded, and contract negotiations have commenced.
In May 2024, the Town launched a survey and organized in-person advisory groups to hear directly from users of the current solid waste program. The Selectboard discussed the results of this feedback on June 18.
