Paving Project Updates for Oct. 26-31

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is providing weekly updates about the paving project in Brattleboro. The latest update was published on Oct. 24, 2025. Sign up for alerts here, or learn more about this project.

Due to the Halloween holiday on Friday, October 31, 2025, crews will postpone their construction start as needed to accommodate trick-or-treaters.

 

Parking Impacts

Overnight parking restrictions throughout downtown may be enforced during working hours in areas where paint has not yet been applied. Street side parking will be unavailable on VT 9 (Western Avenue and High Street). From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Saturday morning, construction operations are scheduled in multiple locations throughout the project. Traffic Impacts

Brattleboro NH PC 25(6)

Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place as needed Monday night through Saturday morning from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for work on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street), U.S. Route 5 (Main and Canal Street), and Vermont Route 30 (Linden Street). Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through the work zones. Motorists should watch for wet paint.

 

Brattleboro-Putney STP PS 25(11)

Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place as needed Monday night through Saturday morning from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on U.S. 5 (Putney Road) from the intersection with Vermont Avenue to the approximate intersection with Noah's Lane. Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through the work zones.

Daytime single-lane closures are scheduled to begin next week on U.S. 5 from the Brattleboro/Dummerston town line progressing north toward the project limits in Putney. Flaggers will direct alternating traffic patterns through the work zones.

 

Construction Activities

Crews continue to measure decibel levels with noise monitoring equipment through the work area.

The Class 1 paving project is finishing up throughout the downtown. Crews are working on VT 9 (Western Avenue and High Street) and will be finishing up in areas on U.S. 5 (Canal Street and Main Street). Work to be done includes hand painting (symbols, stop bars, crosswalks, etc.), sign installation, and some signal work.

 

Brattleboro-Putney STP PS 25(11)

Between Vermont Avenue and Noah's Lane, crews will continue working in this area and the paint operation will move here once everything in downtown is complete.

Crews plan to begin working on the ditches beside U.S. 5 during day shifts starting next week. Work will continue from the Brattleboro/Dummerston town line north toward Putney.
