About

Next Generation Brattleboro is a cross-sector civic alliance initially supported by the following participating organizations and community members:

•  Town of Brattleboro, Municipal Government

•  Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC), Economic Development

•  Brattleboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, Business and Regional Economic Development

•  Downtown Brattleboro Alliance (DBA), Downtown Vitality and Community Development

This alliance of Founding Participants welcomes additional organizations, businesses, community leaders, and residents who support its shared vision and operating principles.

Participating organizations retain their individual missions, governance, priorities, and decision-making authority.

Vision

Brattleboro is one of New England’s most extraordinary small towns: a vibrant, welcoming, and affordable community where rural character and creative energy, working farms and world-class arts, makers and manufacturers, natural beauty and urban amenities thrive side by side.

It is a place where people can build meaningful careers, find a home they can afford, participate in a thriving local economy, and feel a genuine sense of belonging. Welcoming third spaces, civic events, arts and culture, outdoor recreation, and strong community connections create a high quality of life.

Brattleboro embraces newcomers while valuing the people who have built their lives here. Our vision is not to turn Brattleboro into something it is not, but to become an even more remarkable version of what we already are: a community where anyone can put down roots, make a difference, and help create a wonderful future.

Pupose

The purpose of Next Gen is to build and sustain a collaborative civic alliance that advances Brattleboro’s long-term economic and community vitality through shared priorities, strategic coordination, measurable progress, and the identification of catalyst projects for members to pursue.

Next Generation Brattleboro will work to:

•  Support efforts to attract and retain working-age individuals and young families.

•  Strengthen the conditions that support a vibrant, inclusive, and affordable community.

•  Coordinate economic and community development efforts across organizations and sectors.

•  Identify gaps in resources, capacity, and opportunity so members can determine how to address them.

•  Champion catalyst projects that can meaningfully improve Brattleboro’s future.

•  Help connect members to funding opportunities, partnerships, and community participation that can turn shared priorities into action.

802 by 2032

The 802 by 2032 campaign exemplifies a shared commitment to attracting and retaining the next generation (802 new residents by the year 2032). By working together to strengthen the conditions that make Brattleboro a desirable place to live, work, and put down roots, we can build a stronger future for everyone who calls, or will call, Brattleboro home.
