Chief's Welcome
Thank you for taking time to visit our website. Providing core public safety services in a consistent, high-quality manner is an overarching goal at the Brattleboro Police Department. That commitment to the community is the responsibility of every one of our staff, no matter what their job title may be. The members of the Brattleboro Police Department proudly serve this community with a firm commitment to our Core Values: Accountability, Respect, Integrity, and Compassion.
The Brattleboro Police Department builds its foundation on the tenets of Community Policing. Quiet neighborhoods, safe streets, and commerce unencumbered by delinquent activity cannot be maintained by the police alone; successfully creating and maintaining this type of community requires the assistance and support of all who stand to gain from it. By coordinating with these various people, groups, and organizations, the Brattleboro Police Department is able to provide high-quality public safety services to our community with the help and approval of those that live, work, and visit here.
Because every community is unique, the policing style of each agency must also be tailored to the community it serves. The Brattleboro Police Department works in partnership with the community to achieve these goals through both traditional and non-traditional approaches to policing. We partner with the community to address concerns specific to different areas of our community, finding and defining areas of concern and addressing them in a problem-oriented fashion rather than being general in nature. We endeavor to prioritize issues, concerns, and calls for service with the goal of not only responding to them but to respond with the right resources and in a timely manner.
Let us all work to keep our community strong, healthy, and resilient by continuing to collaborate on all public safety and public health concerns affecting “The One and Only Brattleboro.”
