Winter Storm Warning in Effect Feb. 22-23
A winter storm is expected to impact the Brattleboro area beginning during the late night hours of Sunday, Feb. 22 and continuing through Monday, Feb. 23, 2026. Possible impacts include:
- Snow-covered roads, especially during the Monday morning commute.
- Periods of reduced visibility during heavier snowfall.
- Gusty winds that may lead to blowing snow and tree damage.
- The potential for scattered power outages.
Parking Ban Reminder
The Town’s winter parking ban remains in effect. There is no overnight on-street parking after midnight. Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid on-street parking altogether during the storm to prevent impeding snow clearing operations and emergency access. Keeping roadways clear allows crews to safely plow the full width of streets.
Salt Supply Notice
Like many communities across the region, the Town continues to experience impacts from an ongoing regional road salt shortage. Crews will prioritize treatment of major routes, intersections, and hills, but road conditions may take longer than usual to improve during periods of heavy snowfall.
Winter Carnival Update
The Downhill Ski Races scheduled for Monday, Feb. 23 have been canceled. The Ski Hill will be open for skiing from noon to 4 pm.
Public Safety Reminders:
- Use caution if traveling during the storm, especially during the morning hours.
- Give plow trucks and emergency crews plenty of space to work.
- Stay well clear of any downed power lines. Always assume they are energized.
- If you encounter downed wires or a life safety emergency, call 911 immediately.
- Check on elderly neighbors or those who may need assistance.
- Prepare for the possibility of brief power outages.
Town crews will be actively monitoring conditions and working in coordination with public safety partners throughout the storm. Additional updates will be provided as needed.
Stay safe, Brattleboro.
