Tree Maintenance Underway Through Urban and Community Forestry Grant
Beginning the week of April 28, ArborClimb, a local tree care contractor, will be working on the maintenance of 53 trees in seven parks across Brattleboro: the Brattleboro Common, Canal Street Park, Crowell Lot, Elliot Street Park, Esteyville Common, Pine Street Park, Plaza Park and Wells Fountain.
The work will include pruning and cabling of healthy trees to lengthen their lives, and the removal of any dead trees. This proactive approach to caring for Brattleboro’s trees was identified by the Tree Advisory Board and Tree Warden Dan Adams last year, and an Urban and Community Forestry Grant through the Vermont Urban and Community Forestry Program was secured. The $45,675 grant also included funding for a tree management plan in the Town parks, funding to plant new trees on Main Street, and resources to provide staff training for safe tree removal. The tree management planning is being directed by Bob Everingham from All About Trees.
In the last few years, the Tree Advisory Board, Tree Warden, and Town have worked on numerous projects to improve the state of our trees in parks and throughout Brattleboro.
