Police Social Worker
Knowles Wentworth is our HCRS Police Liaison. He came to Brattleboro with his wife, Stasia, and 6-month-old daughter, Raisa, in 2007 to study Peacebuilding at SIT Graduate Institute. They loved the community so much, they stuck around. Now Raisa is 16, and their son Zealand is 10. Knowles loves to be outside hiking and canoeing and is a student of Aikido and Shodo.
"What I love most about this work is the opportunity to engage with folks in crisis," said Knowles. "I have a lot of respect for people who are experiencing a 'bad day,' and I’m honored to meet them there with presence to see how I may listen and assist in some way. We are experiencing complex times and this calls for creativity and a recognition of this complexity as we learn to navigate profound mental health challenges, addiction, housing crises, and trauma. Both police work and police social work are not easy these days. But like the officers I work closely with, we’re both invested in these challenges."
