
Rec & Parks Programs Starting this February
Indoor Youth Soccer
Come on in from the cold and play some soccer! The Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department is pleased to announce that they will offer Youth Indoor Soccer from Feb. 24 to March 26.
Children will be divided into small co-ed teams to play pick-up games. Scores will not be kept. Shin guards and sneakers are required. The focus will be on having fun! Don’t forget to bring water. Space is limited so don’t wait to register!
The fee is $20 for Brattleboro residents and $35 for non-Brattleboro residents.
This program will take place in the Gibson-Aiken Center, 3rd Floor Gym. Youth Indoor Soccer will break down like so:
- Grades K & 1: Monday, 5–6 p.m. (this group is currently full)
- Grades 2 & 3: Tuesday, 5–6 p.m.
- Grades 4–6: Wednesday, 5–6 p.m.
Youth Chess
Rec & Parks will offer another session of Youth Chess classes beginning Feb. 28 and ending on April 25. This program will take place in the Gibson-Aiken Center.
The beginner class will run from 3:20 to 4:20 p.m. and the intermediate class will run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The fee is $55 for Brattleboro residents and $70 for non-Brattleboro residents.
The 16th Annual Youth Chess Tournament will be happening at the Senior Center on Saturday, March 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. This program is for participants in Grades K-8, all skill levels welcome. The cost of this tournament is $5. Eric Strickland will be running the tournament. Depending on the number of entrants, contestants will be divided into appropriate groups. Swiss System; no players are ever eliminated. Game boards will be provided.
February Break
There will be additional Open Gym and Game Room hours at the Gibson-Aiken Center on February 17-21 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. for grades K-12.
There will also be additional public skating hours at the Nelson Withington Skating Facility from February 17-21, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Registration
Individuals can register online or in person Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon & 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Gibson-Aiken Center.
