Paving Project Updates — July 17, 2026

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is providing regular updates about the paving project in Brattleboro. The latest update was published on July 17, 2026. Fill out this form to receive email alerts about this project directly from VTrans.


 

There will be no overnight work on July 17.

Overnight work on U.S. Route 5 may occur next Friday, July 24 into Saturday morning, July 25.

 

Traffic Impacts

Interstate 91, Exit 3: Brattleboro (Night Work) — There are no short-duration closures of Exit 3 planned for next week. Additional information will be provided by Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Vermont Route 9: (Night Work) — Flaggers will continue to control alternating traffic patterns through single-lane closures between the Interstate 91 Exit 2 interchange and the Edward Heights intersection in West Brattleboro. Monday night through Friday morning, work zones will be active from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. No street-side parking will be available in these areas of VT 9 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Pedestrians — Please exercise caution when navigating the work zone. Sidewalk work will continue on VT 9 through next week. Pedestrians should watch for sidewalk detours and accessible ramps.

U.S. Route 5: Brattleboro to Putney (Day and Night Work) — No traffic impacts are planned for the work zone from Bennett Drive north to Putney for next week.

U.S. Route 5: Brattleboro (Night Work) — Flaggers and uniformed traffic officers will continue to assist traffic through single-lane closures on U.S. 5 in the vicinity of the Exit 3 roundabout. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Saturday morning, alternating traffic patterns will be in place as needed. Motorcyclists should watch for uneven surfaces.

 

Construction Activities

Vermont Route 9: (Night Work) — Sidewalk installation continues VT 9. Next week, crews will begin to mill and pave side roads from I-91 Exit 2 to the Edward Heights intersection.

U.S. Route 5: Brattleboro to Putney (Day and Night Work) — No work is planned on the northern segment of the project for next week.

U.S. Route 5: Brattleboro (Night Work) — Crews will be adjusting structures in the vicinity of the Exit 3 roundabout next week.

Interstate 91, Exit 3 Upcoming Closures: Brattleboro (Night Work) — The short-duration closures planned from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m., Tuesday through Friday mornings next week have been postponed. Short-duration closures will be necessary for the application of final pavement and the contractor is working on scheduling the necessary preliminary operations. Additional information on the closure schedule will be sent on Tuesday afternoon, July 21. The detour routes will remain the same.
