Property Taxes and Utility Bills Due Aug. 15
The first installment of the 2025 Brattleboro Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes will be due by 5 p.m. on August 15, 2025. Payments made after August 15, 2025, will have an additional 1% interest added to the unpaid balance.
The Town of Brattleboro utility bills are also due by 5 p.m. on August 15, 2025. Payments made after August 15, 2025, will have an additional 1% interest, as well as an 8% penalty added to the unpaid balance.
Payments can be mailed to the Town of Brattleboro, 230 Main Street, Suite 111, Brattleboro, VT 05301. An official postmark of August 15, 2025, will be considered an on-time payment. Payments can also be made by dropping an envelope containing your check (no cash) into a locked “mailbox” in the parking lot behind the Municipal Center. Payments dropped in the drop box after hours on the due date will not be considered on time. Please include the quarterly payment stub to ensure your payment is applied properly.
When paying by check, please note that the Town cannot accept post-dated checks. If you are paying for both taxes and utilities by check, please write separate checks for each bill instead of one combined check. Please review your checks for accuracy. Ensure you have signed the check, written the correct amount, and included the parcel I.D. in the memo line.
Electronic Bank Checks must be received in the office by the due date. Electronic Bank Checks dated for the due date, but received after the due date, will not be considered an on-time payment. Please check with your bank regarding the payment schedule.
Also, you may choose to make your payments via a credit card or debit card on our website by visiting Brattleboro.gov/pay-bills-online. There is a fee for this service. We can also accept credit card payments at the office over the counter; fees do apply.
If you choose to pay in person, the Treasurer’s Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 111 of the Municipal Building.
