'Talking About Tech' at Brooks Memorial Library
Brooks Memorial Library will be launching a new program this month, Talking About Tech, a monthly drop-in opportunity where technology users bring their questions and their advice about electronic devices and how to get the most from them. Intended as an interactive gathering — a bit like a book club, crossed with a crafting group, with a touch of a drop-in bike repair clinic — each session will begin with a 30-minute presentation on a tech topic of interest, followed by an hour for mutual tech support on the focus topic, other areas of need such as password maintenance, or discussion of trends in technology, such as AI. Attendee input will help guide the content.
Maybe you have the answer someone else is looking for! Bring your phone, tablet, or laptop.
The initial gathering will take place Saturday, January 24, from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Meeting Room D, 224 Main St., Brattleboro. Matthew Wojcik, the library's Electronic Services Specialist, will provide an overview of the streaming video, e-book and audiobook platforms available for free with your Brooks Memorial Library card.
Users of all levels of experience and expertise are encouraged to attend. “Come if you're curious about tech, need help with your tech, or if you're tech-savvy and interested in helping your neighbors and peers. Maybe you have the answer someone else is looking for”, urges Wojcik. “Bring your phone, tablet, or laptop. Did you +get a new device over the holidays? The informal group support time after the presentation will be the perfect time to show it off, or learn how to turn it on.”
The program is free, open to the public, and accessible to people in wheelchairs. For more information, contact Brooks Memorial Library at 802-254-5290 or visit www.brookslibraryvt.org.
