April 11, 2026 Town of Brattleboro 3.5 Min Read

Open Town Meeting is April 11

During Town Meeting Day, held on March 3, 2026, Brattleboro voters discontinued Representative Town Meeting. Representative Town Meeting, which had been originally scheduled for March 21, has been canceled, and Open Town Meeting will replace it on April 11.

At Open Town Meeting, all registered voters who are present can discuss, debate, amend, and vote on the town budget and on other binding and non-binding items. Below are some helpful dates and documents to review prior to the meeting.

NOTE: There was a misprint in the Annual Town Meeting banner over Main Street. Annual Town Meeting will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. It will not begin on Sunday.

Important Dates

  • April 8: An Informational Session will be held on April 8, 2026, starting at 7 p.m. in the Brattleboro Area Middle School Multipurpose Room. Watch it here

  • April 11: Open Town Meeting will be held on April 11, 2026, starting at 8:30 a.m. in the Brattleboro Union High School gymnasium. Doors open at 8 a.m. Watch it here.

Dependent Care

There is a small Dependent Care fund for Brattleboro’s Town Meeting on Saturday, April 11, 2026, community-funded and managed in partnership with United Way of Windham County. The goal of the fund is to reduce barriers to participation associated with the challenge and expense of care for dependent children or elders, for family members who attend and vote at Town Meeting. Care for pets is not eligible.

How to Apply: Request forms will be available for the first time at Town Meeting on April 11, near the Clerk’s table. Complete the form and turn it in with a volunteer when you leave the meeting, for the hours that you attended. Funds are limited and will be reimbursed soon after Town Meeting on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is advised to submit the request before you leave the meeting. It is not possible to know how many will apply, so no funds can be guaranteed to anyone, in advance.
