MOOver Adding Microtransit to Brattleboro on April 15

The MOOver is bringing a new transportation option to Brattleboro this spring! Southeast Vermont Transit (SEVT aka The MOOver) and the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) are adding a new microtransit service in Brattleboro starting April 15, 2024.

Operating from 5 to 11:30 p.m. on weekdays (excluding holidays), the MicroMOO2 will offer a transportation option for riders within the Town of Brattleboro limits.

Here's an overview of the service:

  • The service is fare-free!
  • Trips must be booked in advance. An app and a PC-based portal called QRyde will be used to book rides, or riders can call the SEVT Office until 4:45 p.m. on weekdays to make arrangements.
  • The pick up and drop off location of a trip must be within the Town of Brattleboro boundaries.
  • The service cannot be hailed along the street.
  • The MicroMOO2 is a seven-seat, lift-equipped, all-wheel drive van painted with the iconic Holstein pattern.

The new microtransit service is designed to complement Brattleboro’s existing bus system, which ends service in the evening hours. The MicroMOO2 will be available for riders seeking a transportation option for downtown shopping, second- and third-shift employment, after-school activities, municipal meetings, or social outings.

The BDCC is funding the cost of the pilot program with a grant from the Northern Borders WIOA Dislocated Worker National Reserve Demonstration program, which is projected to last through the end of 2024. SEVT is seeking additional funding to keep the service operational beyond this year.

Public Meetings on April 9

To prepare for its launch, MOOver will be holding two public meetings in the Selectboard Room at the Municipal Center on Tuesday, April 9 at two different times, 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

During these meetings, MOOver will provide an overview of the new microtransit system and explain how to book rides.
