Burn Ban Lifted on Oct. 24
The State of Vermont has officially lifted the statewide burn ban, and the Town of Brattleboro is following suit, effective Oct. 24, 2025, due to recent improvements in weather conditions.
This decision follows a period of heightened fire risk due to dry conditions. With recent rainfall and a reduction in fire danger levels, residents may now resume open burning activities in accordance with local regulations.
The Brattleboro Fire Department reminds all residents to continue exercising caution and follow these safety guidelines:
- Never leave a fire unattended.
- Only natural wood material may be used.
- Keep water or fire suppression tools nearby.
- Ensure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area.
- Apply for a burn permit at https://brattleboro.gov/burn-permits
The Brattleboro Fire Department will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. We appreciate the community’s cooperation during the burn ban and thank you for helping keep Brattleboro safe.
