Project C.A.R.E. Community Partners Award: Keith & Mary
The Brattleboro Police Department and Project C.A.R.E (Community Approach to Recovery and Engagement) would like to recognize two of our community partners for their ongoing partnerships and tireless work in the community. Their valuable partnership – and work behind the scenes, and on the ground – with the PD and our initiatives is imperative in our outreach efforts, and has no doubt resulted in many successful outcomes in the community.

Keith Coleman (pictured above, center), a recovery coach for Turning Point is an active member of Project C.A.R.E., a regular partner at the Brattleboro Situation Table, and participates in recovery-related programs with the Department of Corrections and youth at area schools. Keith spends countless hours meeting with people and promoting recovery in the community. He is constantly providing rides to treatment facilities, often on his days off or on his own free time.

Mary Lachenal (pictured above, center), a caseworker for HCRS can often be seen working in tandem with our police liaisons, our Community Resource Specialist, our B.R.A.T. unit and our dedicated downtown officer. Mary works tirelessly to connect people in the community with the resources they need.
The efforts of both of these individuals have resulted in countless people in the community accessing housing, treatment and other resources. It is clear that these efforts have reduced the impact on the community and contributed to a safer environment for everyone as well as a more successful outcome for those seeking services.
For going above and beyond the call of duty in their efforts to reduce the impact substance use has had on our Town, and their willingness to partner in a safer community, Keith and Mary were awarded certificates of appreciation and gift cards to Tito’s Taqueria by Chief Hardy and Captain Petlock of the BPD.
